What
is a Non-Geographic Number?
A Non-Geographic Number is a number that can connect
to a landline in any area of the country and has no
area associated with it unlike 01 and 02 numbers. They
can be re-directed to point to a different destination
upon request should you move location or change your
landline number. This means that you can use the same
non-geographic number even if you move to a different
area.
What
can I use a Non-Geographic Number for?
Non-Geographic Numbers can be used for voice calls,
fax machines and data calls. 070 ‘Follow Me’
numbers support voice calls but are unable to receive
SMS text messages.
Do
you pay revenue on 0700 ‘Follow Me’ Numbers?
Due to the change in OFTEL legislation call revenue
can no longer be generated via 07 numbers.
Do
you supply any voicemail services?
0700, 0870 & 0871 numbers can be setup with standard
voicemail for only £5 We also have a range of
standalone and advanced voicemail systems in addition
to our standard voicemail.
How
does the voicemail work?
Voicemail can be setup when you first order your Non-Geographic
Number to be activated when your line is engaged or
not answered. To access your voicemail menu, you are
given a 0870 national rate number and pin. Once you
are in the setup menu you can record new outgoing messages
and check for messages left.
What
happens to my Non-Geographic Number if I move?
One of the benefits of having a Non-Geographic Number
is that it can be re-routed to a different 01 or 02
landline number on request. If you do require the destination
number changing, please visit our customer login area
or email sales@iccommunications.co.uk
Please allow 24-48 hours for re-route requests (excluding
weekends).
Can
callers still call my existing landline number?
Your landline number will not be affected in any way
by having a Non-Geographic Number. Callers can still
get through to you by using your 01 or 02 number. This
eliminates the ‘big number change’ too;
simply add your new number to your stationary and advertisements
when you next re-order from your supplier.
When
is call revenue paid?
Statements are automatically emailed to customers around
the 10th of each month. If the statement has a balance
of £50.00 or more, simply send an invoice to our
accounts payable department. If your balance is below
£50 you won’t lose out, we simply carry
the balance over to the next month and so on until you
reach £50. Revenue payments are made within 7
days from the date IC communications receives the revenue
from the networks providing that a valid invoice has
been received. This typically takes 6-7 weeks from the
date of your statement.

my number divert to a 2nd destination number if the
first is busy? [back
to top]

a second landline destination should your first landline
number be engaged or not answered along with a range
of other advanced calling features. Please visit our

I
already have a non-geographic number with BT but they
charge me. Can I bring my BT non-geographic number to
you? [back
to top]
This is a common question asked by BT customers once
they see our rates. If you have a BT number please contact
our sales team to see how we can help.
Will
my existing service provider charge me for receiving
calls via my Non-Geographic Number?
No – Your current telecom arrangements will not
be affected in any way.
Can
I make cheaper calls with you?
Yes! You can make large savings on all your UK and international
calls with Ic communications; see our web-site for details.
Will
my Non-Geographic Number be available on 1471 to the
customers I call?
If your customers were to dial 1471 after you have called
them they would here your 01 or 02 landline number.
If you don’t want to reveal your 01 or 02 landline
number as you want them just to use your Non-Geographic
Number simply prefix the number you dial with 141, or
easier still, ask your telecom supplier to add the number
conceal feature to all the calls you make.
Can
My Non-Geographic Number be called from abroad?
At the moment, only 0870 numbers can be called from
abroad. The number that the caller would use would be
+44870 XXXXXXX. If you have a 0871 number the caller
would need to use your 01 or 02 landline number. The
majority of sites display both on their contacts page,
pointing out that ‘callers from outside the UK’
should dial +44115 XXX XXXX for example.
I’ve
received an invoice from you for a negative balance,
why have I received this?
Each month around the 10th we send out invoices via
email to all customers that have accrued call revenue,
call charges or rental fees where applicable. A negative
balance reflects call revenue that has been accrued
from either 0870 or 0871 telephone numbers.
I’ve
received an invoice from you how can I pay it?
All invoices need to be paid within 14 days of the invoice
date. Cheques should be made payable to IC communications
and sent to the address on the invoice.
I’ve
tried to call my non-geographic number but it’s
dead. [back
to top]
If your number is not working this could be due to several
reasons: overdue invoices, a fault with the destination
number it connects to or a fault with the network operator.
